Once upon a time there was a girl
who fell in love with jazz. The two were
inseparable, and went out every night to
celebrate life. They danced under bridges
and lay together on famous
monuments and rode trains to busk for money,
earning just enough for food and
the next night of drinks. After many years
the girl noticed she had not aged at all
and a life spent on the streets,
washing her hair in the black river and never
seeing the sun, had not harmed her beauty.
One morning she stayed up past dawn
and saw the terrible lines on
the ancient face of jazz.
So she kissed each one then went to sleep.
